Fred H. Benson book, pg. 118. "John Winslow of Rochester, son of Kenelm Winslow of Harwich, Mass., late deceased, confirmed to Freeman Ellis of Rochester, 10 ac res of land which said Kenelm sold to said Freeman Ellis in 1702, but died before th e deed was acknowledged. This new deed is dated July 21, 1727. He made his will Aug. 7, 1710; bequeathed to wife Mercy, sons Joel, Ebenezer, Mordeai, and Gideon , and daughters (not named). His will presented to Court June 20, 1725.

February 15, 1714, Freeman Ellis of Rochester, for love to son Joel Ellis of Rochester, conveyed land to him at "Mattapois which was part of Elizabeth Ellis' share at the first." Proof that the wife of William Benson was the daughter of Joel and Mary Ellis is found by a quitclaim deed to her share in her father's property to her mother, Mary Ellis, September 9, 1740 and signed by Elizabeth and William Benson.
