There Josiah was married to Ruth Lines on May 7, 1724. Josiah's decendants are known as the Bethany Branch of the Lounsbury family becauce Josiah and Ruth settled in that part of New Ha en County which in 1832 was separated from Woodbridge Township to form a new Township called Bethany, onlya portion of which had previosly been known by that name. Members of the family resided here for several generations. The geneology og yhe Bethany Branch of the Lounsbury family was originally prepared by Emma Lounsbury of Oxford, Connecticut, who died in 1925. She prefaced her research with the statement "gathered from small sources as I best could, but have endeavoured to give the authority for all statements" Emma's finding were edited by Edith Agnes Coleman Box77, Diamond Valley Road, R.D.#1, Barton, NY(She is now deceased,1994) She added information provided by Clarence Lounsbury of Smithboro, New York, and further informantion which she herself collected.(Clarence now deceased) (21) d.
