There were two Thomas BARNES’s living in the area at the same time. One of them is a very significant story, and that Thomas BARNES from Farmington Connecticut was involved in a Indian massacre and also his wife “Mary elizabeth Brockett BARNES was hung as a witch. so I think what happens is people just attach to the most famous story because it’s the one that pulls up fastest. But as far as I can see, Mary Brockett, BARNES, and Thomas BARNES from Farmington Connecticut did not have a son named Daniel. Their children are quite well documented But there was also a Thomas BARNES living in New haven Connecticut at same time, about 40 minutes (now) this would have been hours away then. And he did have a son named Daniel and Daniel was born in New Haven not Farmington so it leads me to think until I can get my hands on some more documentation that Daniel has been for years attached to the wrong family !MD MARY TAPPEN 13 JAN 1686. !MD MARY TAPPEN 13 JAN 1686. .
