It goes on to list the family of John, Jr. and says he was the John who married Mary Richardson, 25 Feb 1684. This descrepancy has not been studied.

      Canada in the expedition against the French enemy' - mentions wife, Mary; sons,
      Jabez, John and Ebenezer; daughters, Deborah, Eunice, Sarah and Joanna;
      grandchildren, Eunice Buck, Eunice Carter, Eunice Roberts and John Buck, John
      Carter, John Brooks, David Roberts; and Mary & Elizabeth, his son John's two
      children; Eunice Brooks, daughter of his son Ebenezer; and Mary, daughter of
      his daughter, Deborah Richardson. He also names son John Richardson (husband
      of Deborah); and mentions John Dane (Dean), an apprentice, and Rev. Pastor Mr.
      Jabez Fox. To son John Brooks, he gives that piece of land -- called by the
      name of English Hills. He gives the care of his son Jabez to Lieut. James
      Converse, during his minority.
      "The second wife of John Brooks, Mary (Champney) Richardson, was the widow
      of Theophilus Richardson, who was the son of Susanna, stepmother to John and
      second wife of Henry Brooks. So, John married his step-brother's wife. Mary
      (Champney) Richardson Brooks was the daughter of John Champney of Cambridge."
