Subscribed sworn this 10th day of November AD 1826 before me} Joseph Parshall ." "Dear Sir, The note handed me the other day by one of our Librarians, contained enough info to enable me to locate some material for you, for which I thank you. We have virtually no info on James Parshall & family even though he was from here, so I went to the county Historian's Office in Lyons, N.Y. & there found what I believe you are looking for. Census Records for Palmyra 1800 - 10 + 20, not in 30. 1800 Partial, James: 1 boy & 1 girl under 10, 1 boy & 1 girl 10 to 16, 1 m + 1 f 26-45 1810 Parshall, James: 2 m & 1 f, 16 to 26, 1 m & 1 f 45+ 1820 Parshall, James: 2 m & 1 f -10, 1 m 10 to 16, 2 f 16 to 26, 1 m 26-45, 1 m 45 + By 1820 it would seem that Eliz., his wife, is dead and some family has moved in to help run the farm + care for him, who only has 6 years to live. A note in the Records of the Palmyra Mecedon Baptist Church lists James Parshall died 24 March 1826. Having found out this much, I tried the Surrogate Court, the docket contained only an inventory (very interesting) and an indication that a last will & testament existed. The will was frequently returned after it was recorded in a will book. Since no copy was with the inventory, I tried the will book. This is old & they won't let me xerox any of it as I had to settle for taking out what Genealogy info I found. 1. to my 2 sons John & Joseph my homestead farm to be divided equally. (various parcels already in the possession of each & a debt of $360 owed by John.) 2. To daughter Lydia & Rebechah $200 each. 3. the legacy from my father to me to be distributed equally among my 4 children. 4. any just demand that Jesse Parshall may have against Mr. Gibbs must be deducted out of Lydia's part. 5. any legacy that Father or Joseph Todd bequeaths to his daughter, Sarah, shall if any be left after the death of Mother Todd, be equally divided between my 2 daughters. 6. if party herein me ntioned contests this will they shall be eliminated from receiving any bequest. (There are numerous other stipulations as all the inventory has to be spread out and uses of rooms guaranteed for the life of the individual, Rebechah to get the use of the garden and sufficient manure for the same while she remains single.) There's more but not of a genealogical nature. My costs have been 30 cents so we won't worry about that, I hope that this is the sort of thing you were after & I'm happy that I was able to find something on your query because usually we find nothing & I hate to write that we failed because I know the recipient is anxious for success. All for now, Yours, Thomas J. Prittie P.S. any info on the Parshall family that you have would be appreciated for our file." Letter responding to an inquiry that Matthew McCormack made of the Palmyra, New York library. Received 4 May 1995.

!Ontario County, New York Civil Court ca
!Ontario County, New York Civil Court case in 1803 identifies James Parshall (Junior and Senior). Patriarcial Blessing and Manti Ward, Utah records states the parents of William Knapp Parshall are James Parshall (Jr) and Ruhumma Sawyer. !TIB: Endow- St George Tem F23055 & 21 June 1888 EH Also gave parents as James Parshall Sr and Hannah Knapp Marr-1796 St George Tem F23055 record Seal to W-Jordan River 29 June 1990 (Rondo personal present) Seal to P-Jordan River 29 June 1990 J Parshall Sr & Hannah Knapp Seal to W & P on Microfilm 1,698,333,Jordan River Temple,29 Jun 1990 !History: James Parshall had 2 wives and 16 children. Mrs. James Parshall was the first wife and Ruhummah Sawyer was the second wife. FACT-During 1985 the Whiting Family Org. paid for a Genealogist to go to New York state to search for this lost generation. The dates, names etc listed are what he came back with. SPECULATION-Either the dates are incorrect or James was a bigamist having 2 wives having children during the same time period. Mrs James Parshall #1 was born in 1772 and Ruhummah #2 was born in 1774 and married in 1796. This may be why this generation was lost for so long. !Florence Hatfield Clark also determined there was a James Parshall Jr. who married Ruhummah Sawyer independent of the Professional genealogist hired by the Whiting Family Org. in 1985.
