      Parshall Terry, Jr. (born 1778) married cousin Hannah Terry (b 1786) Parshall Terry, Jr.'s father is Parshall Terry (b 1756) whose parents were Parshall Terry (b 1734) and Deborah Clark (b 1736). He was a brother to Joshua Terry (b 1764). Joshua Terry is the father to Hannah Terry. Parshall, Jr. and Hannah's ancestral lines meld in together.

Much like Old Testament Times, Parshall III traveled from Canada back to New York to his father's family, where he married his cousin Hannah. The mode of travel for most people at that time was by boat on the Erie Canal. Parshall & Hannah's first 7 children were born in Palmyra, New York, then about 1818 they moved back to Canada, where the rest of the children were born. Living in Palmyra, they were probably acquainted with Joseph Smith and his family, who moved there in 1805. In fact they were close neighbors and the children probably played together. The Terry's second son Jacob, was about 6 months older than Joseph Smith. In 1838 Mormon missionaries came to Toronto telling of Joseph Smith's Heavenly visitation and about the "Gold Plates" or the Book Of Mormon. It is said that on the strength of the Terry's respect for the Smith Family, they left their home in Canada and went to Missouri to investigate the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. Most of them became members. Since they were free from prejudice of Joseph Smith and they thought so highly of him was probably why they came to Missouri in spite of the Governor of Missouri's order to exterminate the Mormons. Eleven year-old DEBORAH died during the expulsion of the Mormons from Missouri. Jane, twice widowed, died of exposure 15 Feb 1847, at Winter Quarters, Neb. STEVENS did not join the church, later went to Ohio. DENCY and husband Sam Hackett, pioneered North Freedom, Wisconsin, where they were identified with the Reorganized Church of LDS, and from where many of their posterity has spread. DAVID either remained or returned to Canada. The rest of the family came to Utah, in 1849 with the Allen Taylor Co. Source: HUDSON VALLEY HEROES February Issue, Page 11. Parshall was a toll gate keeper at Red Butte Canyon road, Salt Lake County in 1849. He moved to Lehi in 1851 and to Draper in 1853. He kept the toll gate at the bridge over the Jordan River at Lehi in 1856, and in Provo Canyon in 1858. Reference: Pioneers & Prominent Men Of Utah. Esshom Frank 1913-page 1204. He had a household of 3, and a real wealth of $100.00, in 1850, and a household of 3 with a real wealth of $350.00 in 1860. Ref: Utah Federal Census 1851 & 1860.
