      Elizabeth Porter came to New England, probably with her brother Edward in 1636. she was unmarried at the time, but was from the same general area in England where her future husband was born. Her parents were Adrian Porter and Elizabeth Allott.

      In 1951, the late G. Andrews Moriarity published material relevant to the immigrant Edward Porter of Roxbury and Boston, Massachusetts (TAG, 27). Although Moriarity noted that Edward Porter was born in about 1610 that Elizabeth Porter who married Captain Isaac Johnson of Roxbury in 1637 was "apparently his sister," he provided no evidence for such a connection. Confirmation was found in the will of Elizabeth Porter's husband, Captain Isaac Johnson, dated 28 June 1675 in which the testator called Edward Porter his "brother."....

Unmarried and living in England 22 Dec. 1630, when she was mentioned in the will of her step-mother, Agnes Porter, she probably came to New England in 1636 with her brother Edward Porter. She m. at Roxbury, Masss., 20 Jan. 1636/7, Captain Isaac Johnson, son of (Mr.) John Johnson of Roxbury and his first wife, Mary Heath. Isaac was bp. at Great Amwell, Herts., 11 Feb 1615/6, and immigrated with his father to New England in 1630. He became a freeman in Roxbury, 4 March 1636/7. He was Captain of the Roxbury company in 1653; Lieutenant of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company in 1665, and made its Captain in 1667. He was killed commanding his company, 19 Dec. 1675, at the taking of Fort Narrangansett.
