History of New London, CT records that this William Thompson was the son of William Thompson of Braintree, MA 2. He graduated from Harvard in 1653 3. In 1660, Governor Winthrop wrote of him that he had two sons William, age 5, and Samuel age 2 1/2. 4. He signed numerous deeds through 1689 with his wife Catherine. 5. He made his sons John and Samuel powers of attorney for him to sell land in Surry County 6. His wife, Catherine, made Samuel her power of attorney 7. His son, John, named the children as "Elizabeth, Katherine Payne, William, and Samuel". no others listed in his 1698 will.
