Daniel was a coal miner in Wales and in Pennsylvania after arriving in America. They joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Wales and came to gather with the Saints. They were in Utah for one year while the older children stayed in Iowa and bought farms around the Hazel Dell and Crescent townships; the rollings hills probably reminded them of Wales. After returning to Iowa, Daniel died and was buried in Oakland, IA in a private cemetery on Dr. Samuel Ballard's farm. Margaret and children moved to Garner twp. in Pottawattamie, Co., IA and she married Edward Middleton, a Methodist minister from England, whom they knew. Information passed down through daughter Annie Robinson to sons.
