  Migration from SC to Alabama Do not know when she arrived in Alabama from SC. Don't know if she arrived before or after she was widowed. Rachel Gissendaner is shown aquiring land on 21 December 1855 in Sec 25 Twp 6 R 25 (Dale County Alabama) This is adjacent to land owned by the Newsomes. Cannot find a record of her Gissendaner husband's first name. Rachel is shown as being 55 in the 1860 census which would mean she was born circa 1805. The census lists her as being born in SC. Family tradition says that Rachel's maiden name was OTT. Rachel Gissendanner acquired land on 21 December 1885 Section 25, Township 6 R 25, Dale County Alabama.
