Records begun in Windsor in 1674 show he married Elizabeth Andros, in 1657, and they were parents of seven children, two of whom died young. Jacob Gibbs had inherited land from his father and mother. He became a Freeman in 1669. He appeared to have made his living as a linen weaver. He and his wife joined the Windsor Church in 1693, but later moved to Westfield, Mass. In 1670 he was deeded an island in the Windsor River by its Indian owner. Father is said to have landed at Dorchester 30 May 1930 (Dorchester town records reputedly list him there in 1630), which would mean that Jacob was probably born there -- the would not likely have traveled as a baby. Another source says that the arrival date for Gyles was 2 Nov 1631 at Nantasket, MA. He was made a Freeman on 4 Mar 1632 in Dorchester.
