Notes
Joseph and his sons were signers of the "Articles of Association" of 1775, in which they pledge to resist the influence of the British Crown. Joseph's son Timothy was a soldier in the Revolution. Joseph's marriage to Elizabeth Parshall (daughter of Capt. Israel Parshall of Southold, grandson of Lion Gardiner) allowed Joseph to become one of the largest, and wealthiest landowners in the Long Island Colony.

In his will drawn January 2, 1770 (20 years before his death) he spells his name "Davies", and mentions:

His wife Elizabeth
His three sons Joseph, Israel, Timothy (his land at Rocky Pt)
His grandchild Elizabeth Robbins
Witnesses: Eliakim Davies and Simeon Davies (cousins?)
Witness also by Henry Robbins

Joseph and Elizabeth are buried in the Joseph Davis Private Graveyard on their ancestral farm property, Long Island, New York.

It should be noted that "The History of the Parshall Family" on page 18 additionally lists a daughter "Elizabeth" after Amy and before Jemimah.

Experience N.Y. Wills, XIII, 295 His wife, Joanna, d. Feb'y 22, 1724-5, aged 38 years, according to the Salmon Records, but aged 47 years and three months, according to the inscription on her gravestone, at Mattituck, L.I., and this is probably correct. The second wife of Isreal was the widow of Mary Terry. I believe there was no issue of this marriage. He appears frequently in the records as "Capt." Israel Parshall, but I have never found any authority to show that he ever held a commission. In 1715 he appears as a private in "Ye Suffolk Regiment Anno Don 1715 Henry Smith Col. Joseph Wickham Lieut (Col) Will'm Smith Maj'r (Erroneously entered as a Regiment of Horse)" Rept. of State Historian, I., 508." Taken from the James Parshall book, pages 11-12. "James's eldest son, Israel, born in March, 1680, was one of the most prominent men of his day in Southold, and also one of the larges landowners of the township. This history, however, is more concerned with his second son, David..." Above taken from the Parshall book, 1915, page 158.

Documentation for Israel (1759-1843) and David Parshall (1762-1836)
Want to note that we have added a Revolutionary War Pension Application (and rejection) that shows he is a brother to David Parshall. We also added David Parshall's Revolutionary War Pension Application (and widow Sarah's) that shows Israel is a brother. They provided testimony for each others record of service. The records give many details that need to be added regarding places of residences. One comment regarding Israel's application is that it is very odd that he never mentions a wife and children. A comment was made in the file regarding that. On the other hand, David's pension application tells the details of his wife and children and a family Bible document is submitted. andrea bartley for kent hatfield (Nov 2023)

French Family Association, Chart 5, John French, 1622:
"Some say John was born on 26 May 1612 in England; others say he was born in 1622. Another says he was born in 1619 in Suffolkshire. Others say he was born in Dorsetshire, England. Some researchers say that John’s wife’s name was Grace Kingsley; others say her surname is unknown."

John French married first to Grace and second to Eleanor (Ellen, Helen, Elinor), daughter of Rev. William and Abigail (Collins) (Bedle) Tompson and widow of William Veazie.

The following compiled by Waldo Chamberlain Sprague.

(Waldo Chamberlain Sprague Collection, Card 1761; New England Historic and Genealogical Society)

John French was born in England near 1612 or 1615

He is first of record in America at Boston, but resided in Dorchester evidently as he was admitted to the church there Jan.27,1642(3) and two children were baptized there. He was made freeman of the Colony May 29,1644. On Feb.24,1639(40) he was granted forty acres of land at Braintree for 5 persons in the family. This land became the homestead and remained in the family for several generations; it was located in present Braintree at the easterly end of Elm St. where the old road used to join Commercial St. a little north of the present road.

His wife was Grace - who died Feb.28,1680 a.59, says her gravestone, Hancock Cem., Quincy. He then married a second wife and a marriage covenant was drawn up, a curious document, dated July 8,1683 in which "the said John French doth pre-engage unto the said Eleanor Veazie not to meddle with, or take into his hand, any part of her estate, wherein she is invested by her former husband William Veazie, or any otherwise, nor any wise weakening her right or claim to the same. The said John French doth hereby covenant and engage to pay the said Eleanor Veazie after my decease four pounds per annum annually to be paid each year immediately ensuing after the said John French's decease, by his lawful administrators, executors, or assigns at her dwelling house; the specie of which payment shall be paid in cord wood, porke, beefe, malt or corn proportionally of each at prices current. And that she the said Eleanor Veazie shall have, hold, possess and enjoy the new end of the dwelling house in which the said French now dwelleth with the cellar appertaining, during the time of her widowhood. But the four pound annuity to bee and continue to her and her heirs or assigns during the term of her natural life. To the true performance whereof the said John French doth hereto set hand this eighth day of July Anno Domini one thousand six hundred eighty three ---- and she shall have apples what she please for spending, and a place for a garden plot." Sign'd John French, witness Samuel Tompson, Benj. Tompson. (Register 12-353).

Eleanor Veazie was widow of William Veazie and daughter of Rev. William & Abigail (Collins) (Bedle) Thompson born about 1626 in England, died April 23, 1711 a. 85 ys, Hancock Cem. She was also called Ellen or Helen or Elinor.

French
A petition to the Court to divide the estate of John French was made by the heirs, and although undated must have been made not too long after his death on Aug. 6, 1692 at about 80 yrs (Town Rec)
"The persons concerned in said estate are John French, the oldest son, Dependence French, Thomas French, Samuel French, William French, the orphan of William French deceased; two daughters viz: Temperance Bowditch wife of John Bowditch, Elizabeth Wheelock of Mendon, children of Mary Lamb deceased are Mary Poole (alias) Thayer by her first husband Poole, and John Lamb, Samuel Lamb, Margaret Lamb, Mary Lamb, Grace Lamb, Hannah Lamb, which, if your Honor shall please to grant will greatly oblige your humble servants." (Register Vol. 12-353)
John French according to town records died 1692 aged "about 80 years" which places his birth near 1612, but on July 26, 1659 he made a deposition "aged 44 years or thereabouts"(Mass. Archives 39-66) which places his birth about 1615, this latter probably being more nearly correct.

(Waldo Chamberlain Sprague Collection, Card 1763; New England Historic and Genealogical Society)

It seems strange that John French had a land grant in Braintree in 1640, yet his first two children were born and baptized at Dorchester in 1641, and 1643. Perhaps his wife was a member of Dorchester Church before him. He was of Braintree in 1644 when he made freeman, and in 1645 when he was one of the petitioners to the General Court for land for a new plantation.

Three test-takers, 2014-2023, all three testing as Haplogroup I

Rated as I-M223: Two test-takers, well-matched. One claimed Eng with no target ancestor. The other said UK and specified John French with precise dates, b.1612, d.1692. The one submitting first, in 2014, contacted this writer, JB. He wishes to remain anonymous, has always lived in the Braintree area, has immigrant John French's wallet as a keepsake, plus an unusual family story about John's time in the English military pre-arrival.

Rated as I-Y106107,one test-taker, more distantly related, claiming Scotland as origin, guessing his target match should be a vaguer John French of Braintree, dated 1615-1692.

Maybe I-M223 and I-Y106107 had an early "ancestor in common" "back there", not here? Again, they were sufficiently similar for all three to be in the French surname's Group 25

Thomas Barnes (of east Haven, CT) who was one of the signers of the Constitution of the Colony of Connecticut in 1644.

Thomas BARNES, born in New Haven, 26 August 1653, removed when a child with is father to North Haven, where he lived throughout his life. He married first at New Haven, Mr. John Moss performing the ceremony, 26 June 1675, to Mary HUBBARD.[14] Some writers assert she died the following spring, and he re-married about 1677.[15], Abigail, daughter of John and Mercy FROST. Since the New Haven records carry clear entries of the marriage of John Frost and Mercy Paine on 9 June 1664[16] and of the births of their children succeeding, including that of Abigail on 8 October 1670, it is beyond reason she became the wife of Thomas Barnes in 1677 (at the age of seven), and bore children from 1679 to 1711, a period of thirty-two years, as must be inferred from the statements mentioned.

The more probable assumption is the entry: "Mary, wife unto Thomas Barnes died April 1676," found on the old records[17] refers to Mary, the first wife of Thomas Barnes, Sr., as claimed by the writer of Coe-Ward Memorial and others. Mary Hubbard Barnes doubtless lived for some years, and became the mother of a number of the thirteen children accredited to Thomas Barnes, Jr.

Thomas Barnes died in North Haven in 1712, aged fifty-nine.[18] His widow Abigail remarried Samuel TUTTLE, born 9 January 1659/60. She died about 1746.

3328 From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Parshall Terry, U.E., (February 22, 1756 – July 20, 1808) was a political figure in Upper Canada.
Parshall Terry was born in Matticuck, Province of New York, British America in 1756 and during the American Revolution served on the British Loyalist side with Butler's Rangers. In the aftermath of the Battle of Wyoming, a sensationalist and widely distributed newspaper account of the "Wyoming Massacre" falsely claimed that Terry “murdered his father, mother, brother and sisters, stripped off their scalps, and cut off his father’s head.[1] Although a retraction was published a few weeks later, this unfounded accusation would reappear in early published histories of the United States.[2]

After the war, he settled in Bertie Township near Fort Erie but later moved to York (now Toronto).[1] He was elected to the 1st Parliament of Upper Canada in the riding of 4th Lincoln and Norfolk. With his father-in-law, Timothy Skinner, and his two brothers-in-law, Isaah and Timothy Jr, he built and operated a large sawmill on the Don River north of York.[3] He drowned in 1808 while attempting to cross the Don River.[4]

Family
Terry married twice. His first wife, Melia Stevens, died in 1789. Four years later he married Rhoda Skinner, daughter of Timothy Skinner. Terry had five children with Melia and seven children with Rhoda.[3]

His son William later represented Lincoln in the Legislative Assembly. Other offspring opened a pottery warehouse and store — Terry & Sons — catering to train passengers that stopped at the Don Station in Todmorden Mills and giving a name to the winding road that snakes through the property - Pottery Road. That factory is now an art gallery. The only known descendants bearing the Terry surname who continue to live in the Toronto area are great-great-great grandson Mark Terry, a professor at Toronto's York University; his daughter, Mary Anne Resendes (née Terry); his son Herb Terry and his wife, Melissa Terry, son Nico Terry, and daughter Melina Terry.

A portion of Terry's home has been preserved as part of the Todmorden Mills Heritage Museum near the former site of the mill.

THE SAGA OF PARSHALL TERRY AND HIS COLON
THE SAGA OF PARSHALL TERRY AND HIS COLONIAL SHOELACE
by Clifton Jolley - Deseret News - Friday, October 5, 1984
When Parshall Terry Jr., was conscripted into the colonial army, he went willingly enough. And he would have served willingly enough, had it not been for a shoelace that made him a Canadian.
The tie that binds.
Vern Hall sits in a straight chair, leaning slightly forward, and turning the blue genealogical binder gingerly as he speaks, telling the story of Parshall Terry again, speaking of the trials and tribulations that preceded the birth of the baby about whom the book is written, Parshall Terry III, from whom Vern is descended.
“I got started late in my interest,” Vern says, brushing the top of his bald head with his hand. "I'm 20 . . . and some months,” he smiles. Enough months to make him 84. I’ve been working on putting this story together for 40 years. Finally it's done.”
And worth doing. Not because Parshall Terry and his son were important historical figures, but because they were people. . . people important to the people descended from them.
"Parshall Jr. had settled down along the banks of the Susquehanna when he was enlisted in Washington's army. They were marching along and Parshall stopped to tie his shoe, and an officer thought he was malingering and kicked him. Well, Parshall wasn't going to put up with that, so he up and hit the officer, which made him less than popular with the army, which he deserted. Well, when his family found out he'd deserted the army, they deserted him. So, he went to Canada.”
Two centuries later, another generation of unwilling conscripts would find similar refuge. But for Parshall Terry, the refuge was brief and the result not much different from the circumstances he had escaped.
"You see,” Vern continues, "the colonists had stretched a great chain across the Hudson to keep the British boats from going up and down. Floating it out on wooden rafts, a chain big around as your arm. And Parshall's up in Canada and hears about a plan to attack the colonies from the western frontier. Well, Parshall knows his family is going to figure into the attack, so he joins the British army so as to go along and watch out for his own.
"The colonists had built a fort on the Susquehanna called Forty Fort. That's where the British struck, and the colonists might have given them a fight, if it hadn't been for the guards and soldiers drinking too much of that old "lifegiver" . . . you know, rum. They were all drunk and they saw the British coming and they went out to meet them and were badly slaughtered, leaving the fort defenseless. And there was Parshall, in the army that took the fort against his own people.”
The tie that binds is not so easy a thread as patriotism, nor so certain as allegiance. The tie that binds can turn brother against brother, father against son . . . And bring them home again.
When the British army took Forty Fort, Parshall Terry found Billy there, his wife, Amie's, younger brother. And when it came time for an exchange of prisoners, Parshall put Billy on a horse and saw him safely home 150 miles to the Hudson River.
But Parshall Terry Jr. - who had wanted nothing more than tightly laced shoes - was no longer safe among his "Yankee kin.” So, he bundled up Amie and their few belongings and set out to join the British forces near Lake Ontario, where it was thought he was a Loyalist rather than merely a man worried about his family . . . And his shoes.
And there near Lake Ontario, Parshall Terry III was born, who grew up to marry Hannah and have children and grandchildren, all of whom were patriotic Americans . . . who's ancestor, Vern Hall, calls “The Canadian” . . . to keep from calling him other things.
Vern turns the blue book that is the life of a man in his hands. "Forty years it took me. Genealogies and outlines of the people's lives. But now I got it done,” he smiles.
And after he has risen from the straight-backed chair, closed the blue binder and gone, you wish you could had checked to see whether the laces on his shoes were tied.

During the revolutionary war, he became a member of the 1st Westmoreland Independent Co. in 1776 and served in Washington's Army for some time.

He deserted 1/11/1776. The incident which led to his desertion is related that he was on a march, he stopped to tie his shoe. Being reprimanded for this, a quarrel ensued. The officer struck him with his sword.

Thereupon, Parshall knocked the officer down and fled. Receiving no sympathy from the members of his family, who were staundy Whigs, he joined other deserters and went to reside at Tioga Point and Shesheguin, NY.

Later he joined the British Army, becoming a 1st Lt. in Buler's Rangers, the Royal Greens.

It is a little hard for us to understand why there should have been some among the colonists who were honestly on the side of the British, during the struggle, but there seems to have been many such.

In fact, he was so loyal to the British Crown that he refused to live in the Colonies after they declared their independence and removed to Canada.

"Daniel Harris*, "wheelwright", was not of the first company, but an early settler. He brought with him his wife, Mary, daughter of Joseph Weld of Roxbury. He sold his property in Rowley, 1652, and moved to Middletown, Conn.; dismissed from Rowley Church to Middletown, 18 May, 1669. He was brother of William. *John (79), Thomas (80), William (81), and Daniel (82 above), are mentioned by Wyman as sons of Thomas Harris of Charlestown. Some of them are mentioned in the will of their brother Anthony Harris, 1652 (Middlesex probate). Dea. William Stitson (Stilson, Stetson) of Charlestown, in his will, dated 12 Apr., 1688, proved 21 Nov., 1692, mentions John, Thomas, William and Daniel Harris and Anna, wife of Elias Maverick as children of his first wife, Elizabeth Harris (Middlesex Probate). Elizabeth, the wife of Dea. William Stitson, died in Charlestown, 16 Feb., 1670 (Savage). This name is one frequently found in ear
This name is one frequently found in early New England records, as several families settled in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut, prior to 1700/ This branch of the family descends from English ancestors. The name is derived from the possessive of Henry or Harry as Harry's, finally becoming the surname Harris. Thomas Harris, born in England, emigrated to New England and settled at Charlestown, Massachusetts, in 1630. His wife was Eizabeth, who survived him and became the wife of Deacon William Stilson, of Charlestown. She died February 16, 1669-70, aged mimety-three years. Deacon Stilson in his will, made April 12, 1688, named John Harris, Thomas Harris, William Harris, Daniel Harris and Anne Maverick (widow of Elias Maverick) as the children of his first wife. Daniel, son of William and Elizabeth Harris, had a house lot assigned to him in Rowley, Massachusetts, very soon after the first assignment of lots in 1644. He was a carpenter and wheelwright, and carried on both trades at Rowley. On the 10th and 21st of August, 1652, he sold his lands in Rowley, and soon afterward removed to Middletown, Connecticut, where, in 1660, he was "approved to keep an inn." He was appointed lieutenant in 1661, and later was commissioned captain. He married Mary, daughter of Joseph Weld, of Roxbury, Massachusetts. "Captain Daniel Harris departed this life September 5, 1711." Chilren, all but the first, born at Middletown; Mary, born July 17, 1665; John, married (first) Susannah Collins, (second) Mindwell Lyman; Hannanh, twice married. from the book: Genealogical and Family History of Central, NY., By Cutter

3330 Full Name of Elizabeth Grace Melburn
I saw a note that states that Grace's full name is not Elizabeth Grace Melburn. That is interesting to me since her father's last name is Melburn. I have put her back in as Elizabeth Grace Melburn.

Really the most important thing is that she is sealed to her parents, husband, and children.

Is there any evidence for any name other than Grace?

Susannah Hale likely NOT wife of Richard Place
I have been doing research trying to find any source documentation supporting a Susannah Hale as wife of Richard Place and cannot find any. Deeds in York County ME 13-255 to 257 make it clear that Martha Leighton was Richard Place's wife in 1729, and had mothered his children Ebenezer and James, both born prior to Susannah Place, who was pretty clearly born around 1712 to 14. So if Martha was Richard's wife from the late 1600's until at least 1729, Susannah Hale would not have been able to be Susannah Place's mother. Also, Richard would have been about 25 years older than Susannah Hale, an age difference which, while not unheard of, would have been uncommon. It is possible that Richard outlived Martha and had a second wife after her, but this would have been well after Susannah's birth, and there are no records that I have seen establishing this.

The only reference online I could find between a Susannah Hale and Richard Place was a WikiTree page someone put up, but there are no sources listed for their relationship, and there are a number of other obvious errors on the page, so I do not have confidence in it. I reached out to the author of the page but got no response.

The death date of the Susannah Hale posted here - 21 February 1776 - corresponds with a Susannah Hale / Heald, originally from Concord, MA, who married Stephen Beecher and lived her life in West Haven, CT area. She was clearly not Richard's wife. This relationship is documented with original source material.

Argument that Dr. William Dyer was the son of Samuel and Anne (Hutchinson) Dyer.
Contributing Sources:
Hal Bradley, Dyer researcher
Marion Shea, Enquiry Service, New England Historic Genealogical Society.
Phil Dyer, Dyer researcher.

1.) The primary evidence against William Dyer being the same man as the son of Samuel Dyer and Ann Hutchinson is the fact that his gravestone states he was "aged about 85 years." However, death records are not reliable evidence of birth information unless corroborated by another piece of evidence. Dr. William Dyer married Mary, the daughter of Dr. Henry Taylor in Barnstable in December 1686 when he was 23 years old. The records show that his wife was born abt 1660. The gravestone of Dr. William Dyer gives his death as July 27, 1738, but mentions that he was 85 years old. If he is the Dr. William we think he is, then he was born in 1663 and died at 75 years old. His wife's death on her tombstone is October 8, 1738, "about 80 years old." Again, no one knows how old either one was.
His gravestone at the Old North Cemetery in Truro was replaced with a more modern one, and it is possible the dates were not transposed correctly.

2.) Boston records show clearly the birth of William Dyer on March 7, 1663, son of Samuel and Anne Dyer. A baptismal record for young William has not been found. After his birth, no further record of William is found either in Boston or Rhode Island.
The Dyer family church in Boston had been the First Church (Congregational) where his grandparents were members, that is, until his grandmother, Mary (Barrett) Dyer, was hanged in Boston for her devotion to the Quaker faith. As a result, no doubt, relations between the church and the Dyer family ended.

3.) Dr. William DYER and Mary TAYLOR had the following children:
1. Lydia DYER (mother's mother honored)
2. William DYER, Jr. (father honored)
3. Jonathan DYER
4. Henry DYER (mother's father honored)
5. Isabel DYER
6. Ebenezer DYER
7. Samuel DYER (father's father honored)
8. Judah DYER
4.) Major William Dyer (his uncle) bought his home and land in 1675 from Dr. Henry Taylor. This property bought of Dr. Henry and Mary Taylor was a parcel of land in New York city containing about 41/2 acres "At the north end of the city, bounded on the south by the Garden and land of Peter Stoutenurgh and John Mange, butting east upon land of Oliver Steven(sen), northerly on the Highway which leads to Smith's Fly (valley) and westward upon the great Road to the City fronting Hudson's River, together with the yards, gardens, cellars, arbours, edifices, ruins of buildings, fencing, timbers, wayes, easments, etc." The deed was recorded 10 April 1675.
This property came to Dr. Henry Taylor in settlement of a claim he had against the Estate of Nicholas Davis, of Quaker fame in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, a friend of Mary Dyre, the Quaker, and Major William Dyre's mother.
Dr. Henry Taylor, while a resident in Boston in 1671, had negotiated with Nicholas Davis to buy a farm belonging to Davis situated in Barnstable, MA. Before a clear title to the farm could be secured and after Dr. Taylor had paid in advance the sum of £420-0-0 (half the purchase price) Nicholas Davis had died from drowning in Newport Harbour. (Note that this is the same Nicholas Davis who had been imprisoned as a Quaker in Boston with Mary Dyre, William Robinson, Marmaduke Stephenson, and others.) He had been banished from Massachusetts Bay and went to Newport, RI. He owned quite some property in and about New York and New Jersey. Among his holdings, besides the above mentioned parcel was an estate called "Whitestone" in Flushing, Long Island and this property also came to Dr. Henry Taylor in settlement of his claim against the Davis estate.
There is no doubt that Dr. Henry Taylor was well known to Major William Dyer. It is also well documented that Samuel Dyer and Major William Dyer were brothers.
There is also no doubt that Dr. Henry Taylor was acquainted with Nicholas Davis, a Quaker well known to both Mary (Barrett) Dyer and Major William Dyer, who appeared in Boston seeking the release of his mother when she was imprisoned with Davis. The suggestion here is that the Dyer family and the Taylor family were well known to each other and that it is not unreasonable to suppose that Samuel Dyer's son, William might have married the daughter of Dr. Henry Taylor. They were certainly known to each other.

5.) It is very possible young William early became a part of Dr. Henry Taylor's family with the intent of studying medicine. Although William's father, Samuel, died in Newport, Rhode Island circa 1678 at the young age of 43, he had lived in Boston with his family almost until the time of his death. He may have been ill for some time, and no doubt was in contact or knew Dr. Taylor. Samuel left children of the following approximate ages at his death:
1. William, 15 years.
2. Samuel, 13 years.
3. Nathaniel, 11 years.
4. Edward, 8 years.
5. Elisha, 6 years.
6. Anne, 4 years.
7. Henry, 2 years.
8. Barrett, a few months old.
6.) William's mother, Anne, may have been a spirited person as evidenced by her will which was proved in 1717. Under this will, she provided for all of her children except her sons, William, Nathaniel and Edward, who were all living at the time of her death. Edward was mentioned in the will only to the extent of "All rents due me from Edward of Kingstown, being due from 1710, Nov. 29, at L6 per annum, and all hereafter found due which should have been for my yearly support and maintenance."
There is a possiblity that a high-spirited William may not have got along well with a high-spirited mother, and may have been apprenticed very early to the care and teaching of Dr. Henry Taylor. It would not be unusual for a boy of 13, 14, or 15 years to become apprenticed as William was at or before 15.

7.) If William had been born on the Cape and grew up there, the local people would have known who his parents were. There were no records. It has been stated, his parentage is not known, and it is not known where he came from. Perhaps, he did not want to ne identified with his grandmother who was hanged.

8.) Marston Watson's new book outlining five generations of descendants of Rev. Francis Marbury (published 2004) shows William Dyer, b. 1663, son of Samuel & Anne (Hutchinson) Dyer, as the William who married Mary Taylor. Although not well documented, the book was endorsed by Gary Roberts of the NEHGS.
It looks like others also consider the identification to be sound.
(Hal Bradley)

Thus, the evidence demonstrating a connection between these two families with William Dyer of Truro being the son of Samuel Dyer and Ann Hutchison is stronger than the evidence to the contrary.

Marcelia Dyer Berry in her manuscript, "The Dyers from England to Cape Elizabeth 1557-1987 - Descendants of Henry, 3rd son of Dr. William Dyer," p. 9, draws the same conclusion and states that these two William Dyer's are the same man.

I think the evidence is sufficient to conclude that Dr. William Dyer of Truro, Mass. was the son of Samuel and Anne (Hutchinson) Dyer. Does it constitute proof? That is left up to the reader.
