3006 | Early Eighteenth Century Palatine Emigration by Walter Allen Knittle 1905 In 1709-1710 thousands of Germans from the Palatine/Rhine areas were encouraged by the British government to emigrate to America. In March of 1709 Britian passed a law that would that would give the adults naturalized citizen status so that they could purchase and hold land in America and their children would be given natural born citizen status so that they could also take part in trade and commerce which was usually forbidden by foreigners. These Palatine emigrants began their journey down the Rhine River - a 4-6 week venture - to Rotterdam, Holland. From there they were eventually given passage to London. Once in London they were supposed to be given passage to America, but Britian was overwhelmed by the number of emigrants who had arrived and it was some months before the Palatines were finally able to leave for America. In January of 1710, Queen Anne approved the request for the emigrants to depart for America. The first ship sailed on April 10, 1710. The second party that sailed from Holland to London embarked on May 23, 1709. Aboard this ship were the following: (Spellings of names taken from the book exactly as written) Johannes Krembs - w. Anna Christina, 1 child Diderig Soets - and wife, Hans Pieter and 2 children Johannes Sous - and wife, Hans Pr Sous, Maria, Magdaleena, Maria Lucina Among the fourth party which enbarked on June 10, -June 19, 1709 (sailed June 21, 1709) were: Johan Luts - wife and 6 children The following entries were taken from The New York Subsistence List compiled from the "journal" of Palatine debtors to the British government for subsistence given either in NYC or in the Hudson River settlements, from their landing in 1710 to September 1712: Johann Dietrich Sutz - in 1710 he had 3 adults (all children over 10 were counted as adults) and 1 child. In 1712 he had 3 adults Johann Dietrich Laux - 2 adults and 1 child. By 1712 he had just 2 adults listed so his child probably died between 1710 and 1712. Johannes Krembs - 2 adults in 1710 and 2 adults and 2 children in 1712. The Simmendinger Register of 1717 shows the area of settlement in the Hudson River settlement: Peter Sutz - Diese Menschen Wohnen auf dem Rarendantz (Schohaire Valley settlements) wife and 1 child Johann Dietrich Sutz - Becksmansland. Possible west side of river or possible Rhinebeck or possibly moved to east side of river. w. Magdenena and 2 children Johann Dietrich Laux - Neu Heessberg. A Schohaire Valley settlement. w. Maria Johannes Krembs - Neu Quunsberg . A Schohaire Valley settlement. w. Apolonia and 1 child The Palatine Families of New York 1710 by Henry Z. Johannes Krem was nat. 28 Feb 1715/16 (Albany Nats.). Johannes Krembs and his wife Apolonia were recorded at Neu-Quunberg ca. 1716/17with one child in the family (Simmendinger Register). His gravestone is the oldest standing in Hancock Cemetarydating to 1666. The Rev. Thompson suffered greatly from what was calledat the time "The devil's bath", what we refer to today as severedepression. After the death of his first wife whilst he was enroute fromVirginia, his depression worsened. He would take to breaking down incrying fits during his sermons, his children were scattered to thevarious neighbors to care for. Prior to his leaving England, his ownmother was locked away for murdering her husband with an axe. After the death of her husband, William, Ellinor Vesy contracted intomarriage with John French, who at that time was a widower with sixchildren of his own. In the contract it clearly stated that French wouldhave no control, or rights, to William Vesey's estate, that French wouldpay Ellinor an allowance per annum that she may spend as she pleased, andthat French would spend the length of Ellinor's mourning period living inthe barn. Robert Proctor was made a freeman, at Concord, MA, in 1643. He MAY have come in the ship Planter, in 1635. (The Planter brought many settlers from Herts., but there is no extant passenger list.) In about 1655, Robert and Jane removed to the new settlement of Chelmsford, where he was a petitioner for the town's grant and one of the first members of pastor John Fiske's church. In 1658, he petitioned the General Court for the privilege of trading with the local Indians. In 1674, less than a year before the outbread of war wigh the Indians, he was issued gunpowder by the town. As late as 16 Mar 1691/2, Robert Proctor was in command of the West End garrison house. In 1653, Robert, in conjunction with Richard Hildreth and twenty-seven others petitioned the general court for a grant of land six miles square"to begin at the Merrimack River at a neck of land next to the Concord River, and so run up by the Concord River south and east into the country to make up the circumference or quantity of land above expressed". The petition was granted. In 1654 Mr Prescott moved to the new plantation which was organized, Nov 22, 1654, as a town under the name of Chelmsford. His descendents resided in many of the neighboring towns, and at an early date wome of them pushed back the wilderness and settled in New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York. His first four or five children were born in Concord, the last in Chelmsford. His descendants resided in many of the neighboring towns and at an early date some of them pushed back into the wilderness and settled in New Hampshire, Vermont and New York and have since scattered over the West" ('The ANTECEDENTS and DESCENDANTS of EPHRAIM WESTON CLARK' compiled by Richard L. Hughes in 1976). The marriage date may be 31 Dec 1645. In "A Genealogy of the Descendants of Robert Proctor of Concord and Chelmsford, Massachusetts" William Lawrence Proctor in 1898 states "The arms of the Proctor family were granted AD 1436, and the shield is described as 'argent with two chevrons sable, between three martlets sable'. The chevron is used to distinguish those families who came over with William the Conqueror, and the martlet to mark the younger branches in contradistinction to the main stem". He also suggests that four Proctors, John, Richard, George, and Robert, who came to New England and settled close to each other in Massachusetts between 1635 and 1643, were related and descended from Sir William Beauchamp Proctor of Thetford in Norfolk. There is no proof of this, but it is highly probable that Robert Proctor came from a strong family lineage in England ("The ANTECEDENTS and DESCENDANTS of EPHRAIM WESTON CLARK" compiled by Richard L. Hughes in 1976). From "Proctor Genealogy": Robert Proctor From "Proctor Genealogy": Robert Proctor, the earliest American Ancestor of the families to which this volume is devoted, first appeared in this country at Concord, Massachusetts, where he was made a freeman in 1643. He married December 31, 1645, Jane, the eldest daughter of Richard Hildreth of Concord and Chelmsford, the ancestor of the Hildreths of America, who died at Chelmsford in 1688, and whose younger daughter Abigail became the bride of Moses Parker. In 1653, Robert Proctor, in connection with Richard Hildreth and 27 others, petitioned the general court for a grant of land six miles square, "to begin at the Merrimac River at the nick of land next to the Concord River, and so run up by Concord River south and west into the country to make up the circumference or quantity of land as is above expressed." The petition was granted. In 1654 Mr. Proctor removed to the new plantation which was organized Nov. 22, of that year as a town under the name of Chelmsford. His descendants resided in many of the neighboring towns, and at an early age some of them pushed back into the wilderness and settled in New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York and have since scattered over the west. He died at Chelmsford, April 28, 1697. Letters of administration upon his estate were granted to Jane Proctor, executrix July 13, 1697. In his will dated March 10, 1695-6 he spoke of having already deeded lands to his sons, Gersham, Peter, John, Samuel, and Israel and mentions son Thomas, to whom certain lands are given if he lives and returns from the sea to New England. Also daughters Dorothy Barrett, Elizabeth Proctor, Sarah Chamberlain and Mary Bourne. 3046 | Family Records On April 13, 1886 my great-great-grandfather John Jones Williams went to the Latter-day Saint temple in Logan, Utah. There he was baptized in proxy for his deceased brother Rees. According to the temple records, "Reese" Williams was born about 1808 in "Llandilow, Brecon, S. Wales," and died about 1828. The dates are a little off, but under the circumstances, the approximations are tolerable. | Williams, Reese Jones (I312684221576)

3047 | Family Records I am looking for any primary (or solid secondary) source documents the family might own, including Family Bibles, journals, letters, news clippings, church/ward records, photos, histories, birth, marriage, or death records of any kinds with concrete sources. If anyone has anything on our family lines, or knows how to contact individuals with any information, please tell them NOT to give away or throw out anything. I would gladly take (or keep) the records or make copies so that all can enjoy the information. Please get in touch with me if you, or anyone you know, may have these types of family records. How about deleting all the duplicate pictures? I admit that I am guilty of adding another Prison photo, but I also added the dialogue about the prison time for polygamy. .... 3050 | Father and son are mixed together? I believe there were two Williams, the son of Nicholas was rector of Nuthurst and did not migrate to the colonies. His son William was the carpenter who married Mary, had two sons and a daughter, migrated to the new world, and had another son (my ancestor) Nathan in 1639. There are several men named William Andrews There are several men named William Andrews who have at times been combined and confused. Here are several I have identified in an attempt to sort them out. LR8F-ZN7 William Andrews immigrated in 1635 from England. He settled in New Haven and died in 1675. He had a wife of unknown name with children Jane, Nathan, Samuel. He also married Ann Tripp. His parents are unknown, there are not likely records in England that list his parents. LLSM-YKX William Andrews married Mary Adden in London and had children there including Jane, Samuel, and Nathan. This William Andrews has been confused with the one who settled in New Haven, but he didn't immigrate to the U.S. as he was having children in England in 1638 while the William Andrews in New Haven was already living there. L8BN-XPP William Andrews immigrated in 1634 and settled in Cambridge MA, and died in Hartford CT in 1659. He had a wife Abigail, probably Graves, who also was married to Nathaniel Bearding. He had sons John 1632/3, Thomas 1638, and Samuel. His half brothers were John Andrews of Farmington and Francis Andrews of Fairfield. William Andrews had a wife Mary who died at Cambridge MA in 1640. He then married Reana James of Watertown about 1640. He died in 1652 leaving an only son Samuel. William Andrews immigrated from England to Jamestown VA. He died in 1655 in Northampton County, Virginia. He married Susanna and had children, Susannah, William, and Robert. He also married Mary Stringer and had children Mary, Ann, John, and Andrew. Genealogical Dictionary of First Families of New Englamd ANDREWS, William a prominent signed Compact of 1639. Probably accompanied Gov Eaton No doubt ist at Boston or Charlestown. at New Haven. Was active in Military Service. One of the founders of the Church. Had William and Samuel perhaps born in England, but Nathan was baptized at New Haven, CT 17 Nov 1639 and died3 Jan 1664 Book of Early Connecticutt Settler William was one of fifty-three persons who shipped at Hampton, fifteen miles southwest of London, about 6 April 1635 on board the ship "James" of London, 300 tons, William Cooper, Master. The ship landed in Boston where many of them settled Andrews was made a freeman that same year.
