2556 A Branch - Joseph(3) - pg 79 The family
A Branch - Joseph(3) - pg 79 The family of Joseph (3) is probably the most firmly documented of this period--due largely to the records of the Wintonbury (now Bloomfield) Church which Joseph (3) and Dorothy (1) attended for many years. Religion played an important part in the life of most early settlers but their frequent isolation and lack of transportation made regular church attendance an impossibility. It was about 1740, after the birth of Zubeh, that there was family attendance at Wintonbury and Joseph (3) and Dorothy (1) were admitted to full membership in June 1742. Thereafter the children were baptized in infancy and there are communion records of the parents. In 1734 Joseph (3) received Hopmeadow property from his father "in Love and Affection" (Simsbury Deeds--Book 6, p.6). He was thereafter involved in a number of land transactions until about 1771.

Anna Cool: daughter of Jacob Kool and Sara Leg was baptized in Kingston in 1713 and would have been but 15 years old at time of marriage in 1728. These are probably two separate people.

2561 A TRIBUTE TO MARY THOMPSON WILLIAMS
A TRIBUTE TO MARY THOMPSON WILLIAMS ON HER 90th BIRTHDAY I am especially pleased to be here today to wish you a very happy birthday. You have accomplished what a very few people do in this life. This is to live 90 years and still be able to work with your hands making rugs and piecing quilts. You are a wonder. Last winter we were afraid you would not make it, for you were so very ill. But God answered the prayers of all of us, and here you are today, to smile and welcome us to your party. We hope and pray that God will continue to bless you as long as you are permitted to stay with us. You have lived a long and useful life and was blessed with a good husband a wonderful family of children , grand children, and great, great grandchildren that honor and love you today and always, and, friends without number join in wishing you many happy returns of the day. I often think of the good times we have had here on Deep Creek at your place and the ones that have gone on. We have had our family reunion for 47 years, and you have only missed two. We thank you today for all you, Arthur, and family have done for us, as we have come into your home. You have been kind, and considerate to all who have touched shoulders with you. I can safely say you are loved by those who know you best. I know that you and brother Arthur were a very congenial couple and had a happy home life. So, I think Edgar A. Guest had you in mind when he wrote that beautiful poem "Home" here it says "It takes a heap of livin in a house to make it a home." I would like to add this little verse at this time: This the human touch in the world that counts, the touch of your hand and mine, that means much more to the fainting heart, than shelter or bread or wine. For shelter is gone when the day is done and bread lasts only a day. But the touch of the hand and the sound of the voice will live in the heart always. No wish is to good to wish for you but we wish this wish might come true. That whatever sunbeams you've scattered might shine back on you. Written and recited by Aunt Victoria Davis, Malad City, Idaho, August 9, 1958 IN MEMBORY OF MARY PENELOPE THOMPSON WILLIAMS, 91 YEARS: She has closed the last chapter of a long and useful life, in fact she has come to the end of a Perfect Day and the End of a Journey Too. We will think of her as fairing on in the love of there, as the love of here. We will remember her sweet smile and cordial welcome whenever we met her. We extend our love and sympathy to her family. May God Bless them and all of us. October 17, 1959: Victoria Davis MARY PENELOPE THOMPSON WILLIAMS died October 11, 1959

!MOTHER OF HEPSIBAH AND SIBLINGS?
Sheila Spencer Stover, in her book entitled "Ancestors and Descendants of Timothy Kellam"

Hepsibah (Parke?) Apparently this assumption is based on tradition passed down in her family.

Amos Kingsley, 1768-1847, by Edna Hartshorn Deane in December 1961. Pages 79-80. Dorchester, Massachusetts was annexed to Boston, Massachusetts in 1870, it was founded in 1630.

CAUTION There are two John Kingsleys in MA near the same age. Please don't confuse or merge them.
They are different men born in different places. Their fathers, Eldad and Enos, were brothers.
John Kingsley born 30 May 1667 in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts also had a wife name Sarah.

John Kingsley removed to Windham, Connecticut before 1700
He was admitted an inhabitant of Windham July 10, 1702. He lived on the road between Scotland and Windham, a little west of Beaver Brook on the side of the hill north of the road. He purchased 60 acres of Jonathan Crane on May 12, 1702, and 40 acres of the Reverend Samuel Whiting on November 25, 1703, both pieces near Beaver Brook. He subsequently purchased several other pieces of land. John Kingsley of Windham, for and in consideration of that parental love and affection which he bears unto his two sons John Kingsley VI and Ezra Kingsley, both of Windham, gives to them 70 acres of land lying and being in Windham on the east side of Beaver Brook, being part of the two thirty-acre lots lying together, the one of which the said John Kingsley V purchased from Mr. Samuel Whiting and the other from Jonathan Crane. Dated May 16, 1720 and recorded the same day. Witnesses John Fitch and John Broughton. Suddenly the same day he made his will. John Kingsley V died sitting in his chair in the 68th year of his age and was buried in the old Scotland burying ground, sometimes called the Palmer town burying ground.

AF

Timothy Terry was born in Upper Canada (now Ontario). He was the fourth child born to Parshall Terry II and his second wife, Rhoda Skinner. He married Adella May in Canada in 11/1831. Five children were born to this marriage. Timothy's half-brother Parshall Terry III, born 1778, lived at one time in Palmyra, NY. In George Walton's Directory of 1837, Terry is on Lot 12, Con 6 of Chingaucousy Township, Peel Township. Timothy's half-brother Parshall Terry III lived, at one time, in Palmyra, NY. He lived near the Joseph Smith Sr. Family. This was about the time that young Joseph Smith had his first vision.

When the (LDS) Mormons came to Canada, Timothy and many of the Terry family were converted. In 1838, they moved to Missouri and, when driven from there, they went to Nauvoo, IL. Terry and Elizabeth are listed in the 1850 census of Hancock Co Illinois. Timothy Terry did not leave Illinois when the Mormons left after the death of Joseph Smith Jr. He remained in Rock Creek and became a member of the RLDS church.

Elizabeth Partridge was born in Hatfield, MA the daughter of Col Samuel & Mehitable Crow Partridge. She married John Hamlin, son of John & Mary Collins Hamlin, May 3, 1709 in Hatfield, MA. Among their children was a daughter Mehitable (who married Joseph Johnson 1702-1768). John Hamlin died in 1717, and Elizabeth then married Joseph Johnson, son of Isaac & Mary Harris Johnson, on Aug 22, 1722 in Middletown, CT (some research shows two additional marriages, 2nd to another Hamlin and 4th to a Payson). They were the parents of six children: Ebenezer, Samuel, Capt. Oliver, Edward, Jemima & Mary.
Elizabeth is buried next to her husband Joseph, she died Aug 13, 1768, age 88 years.

Note: The dates/age on the headstone differ from research by Coralynn Brown "Elizabeth, b. Oct. 7, 1688; m. (1) May 9, 1709, John Hamlin Jr.; m. (2) _____ Hamlin; m. (3) _____ Johnson of Woodstock, Conn.; m. (4) _____ Payson of Middletown, Conn."
However, this Elizabeth is next to Joseph Johnson, husband of Elizabeth Partridge-verified by contributor who took the headstone photo.
