About 1782, his widow married Parshall Terry, formerly of Southold. He was a widower, was living with his family in Wyoming Valley in 1778. He and his family were in the famed Forty Fort the night after the Indian battle and massacre. The next morning they fled to the mountains and after suffering great hardships, crossing the "big swamp," afterwards known as "Swamp Dismal," or the "Shades of Death," they reached Stroudsburg PA in safety. Leaving his family here, he hastened to Orange County NY, for assistance. During his absence his wife was taken sick with "camp distemper" (malignant dysentery), and died, leaving a large family of children, the youngest but three years old. He took his family to Little Britain, Orange County NY, N. Y., and as above-stated, married the widow Horton. The two families, all told, numbering twenty-two persons. The house in which they lived being an old-fashioned double log-house, they hired a school-master and made one part of it a school-house, thus evincing a laudable determination to have the education of their household properly cared for. The writer obtained these facts in 1828, from Benjamin Horton, son of Israel, who was one of the pupils. But this arrangement was not of long continuance, for in 1786, Sarah, the mother and step-mother died, and was buried by her first husband in Warwick Cemetery. About 1687 he removed to NJ and settled at Bowenstown; pastor also at Barrett's Run & Shilo. This group came originally from Wales. He lived in Lyme Conn 1662-70 and had several unrecorded children there. His will names wife Mehitable, sons Josiah, John, Timothy anddaughters, un-named. In 1630 a large group removed to the Welsh settlements at Cohansey (Greenwich) NJ and in Rhoadestown where he was pastor of the 7th Day Baptists. !IGI:MARR:Batch 7108810 54. Biographical On 29 September 1674, he was called Thomas Chamberlain, Junior, when he deeded a meadow in Chelmsford to his brother-in-law, Gershon Proctor (Middlesex Deeds, Liber 11, P. 45). On 25 April 1678, he deeded land to Arthur Crouch (Middlesex Deeds, Liber 12, P. 3). On 30 November 1675, he was at the garrison in Groton. On 23 September 1676, he was enlisted under Captain Joseph Sill, and was probably with that troop in October following, as they marched to Ossipee and Pequaket (Bodge's King Philips War, pp. 260, 274, 359). He and his son Thomas and brother Samuel were all in service at the local garrison in Chelmsford, 16 March 1691 (Mass. Archives). (See also NEHGS Register, Vol. 43, P. 373.) On 11 December 1700, calling himself "Thomas Chamberlain, senior, of Chelmsford,"and his son" Thomas Chamberlain, Junior, of Groton, "conveyed land at" Stony Brook "to Joshua Fletcher, Senior, of Chelmsford. Thier wives, Sarah, and Abigail signed with them (as a conveyance of their right of dower in the land) (Middlesex Deeds, Liber 25, P. 507). On 26 December 1700, he deeded land near Huckleberry Hill in Chelmsford, to Richard Stratton, in exchange for other lands in town (Middlesex Deeds, Liber 13, P. 439). On 4 March 1701/02, he deeded land to" my son Samuel," "a part of the homestead which I had from the town" (Middlesex Deeds, Liber 14, P. 380). On the Same day he deeded land in Chelmsford "to my son John" (Middlesex Deeds, Liber 14, P. 549). There may have been other children but probably none that grew to maturity. Not definitely proven that Mary and Dorothy were his daughters. However, they were of Chelmsford when they married and were born to soon to be daughters of his brother Samuel and thus, undoubtedly, belong in this family. Spouse Merge Errors
Someone merged several Sarah Proctor's into one person and caused a HUGE mess with this family. His wife is NOT the Sarah Proctor, daughter of John Proctor and Martha Harper, so I have removed her from the family.

Unfortunately, I don't have the research to add the correct info for the mother of this family and children as my line is through the Proctor's that I had to disconnect. This will need to be corrected by someone with much more knowledge of this family than mine.

John Russell of Cambridge married Elizabeth Fisk, daughter of David Fisk and Seaborn Wilson
No marriage record has been found for John Russell and wife Elizabeth Fisk. Histories vary in information about their family which causes confusion. Not all their children show up recorded in the records. Three Russell children with parents John and Elizabeth born in Boston, Mary,1669, John, 1671, and Thomas, 1673 are sometimes attributed to them, but Elizabeth would have been extremely young, age 12, and I find no records that show this couple lived in Boston.

!From Mr. Raymond Martin Bell, 1506 First Avenue, North, Apt. 3, Coralville, Iowa 52241-1199: John's will was written in Lack twp., Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania. Two weeks after that, Lack twp. became part of the new Mifflin County. It is now Tuscarora twp., Juniata Co., Pennsylvania. John's will is recorded in WB #7. John made a settlement in Lack soon after the land was purchased by the Penns from the Indians (1754). The land office opened 3 Feb 1755. John got a warrant 12 Mar 1755. He didn't stay long, for Indians began attacks. By 1762 it was safe to return. He got more land 10 Jun 1762. He is on the first tax list for Lack 1763. But Indians drove him out again. He is on the next tax list 1767 and never left his farm. It is not known where he went when Indians threatened, nor where he lived before 1754. He may have gone to Carlisle or Paxton (now Harrisburg).
