At one time he had a "Whiskey Still" up in the Malad mountains and he raised pigs to eat the mash. It was decided that they made more money from the pigs than they did from the Whiskey!! The area in and around where the 'Still" was located is still to this day called "Rueben Hallor." SIDE NOTE- An area in back of the Williams Grove up Deep Creek, which was originally the Williams Homestead was called "Hyrum Sawyer Hollor" after Hyrun James Williams. Another area near the ranch up Deep Creek was called "Rueben Hollor" after the youngest son Rueben Merrifield Williams. These two areas are called the above names to this date......July of 2009. (FHL 974.99 4 D2c) The descendants of Stephen Clark of Fairfield and Do wne townships trace their descent from Samuel Clark, Sr. o f Southampton, Long Island, who is said to have been a so n of JohnClark of New Haven. Howell's "History of Southamp ton" states that his name appears first in the list of 1657 , as an inhabitant of Northsea, and further states that hi s wife's name was Susannah. His will, filed in the New Yor k surrogate's office, made Mar. 4, 1675, with an accountin g of his personal estate dated Feb. 24, 1878/9, mentions hi s wife, Susannah, and seven children: Samuel, Edmund, Sarah , Mary, Susannah, Martha and Hannah. He was a carpenter b y trade. He purchased a millsite at Northsea on which he e rected a mill, which he devised to his two sons. Samuel came from Wethersfield in 1636 to Samuel came from Wethersfield in 1636 to establish a home at Rippowms now Stamford, CT. He lived in Milford, CT in 1669 then moved to Hempstead, and to have lived in New Haven CT in 1685. It is thought he had a large family.
